Smokes under load
#1
Well let's try this one.
I've done what I can with this new engine. Tomorrow I'm taking my kids out to ride here in So. Cal. and see how it responds.
My question is... When I start the quad it smokes, mostly white with a tint of blue. When it warms up the smoke goes away but loading it up in the truck I brought it to the ramps and under a lot of torque/stress/load it smokes like hell then goes away once it's in the truck and returns to idle. I've run this though my head at length and all I can come up with is bad rings or the openings of the rings are lined up and allowing some oil to slip by the cylinder wall and the piston. My spark plug looks wet each time I pull it out when it's smoking but I can't tell if it's fuel or oil - there's not enough of it - just enough to make it smoke. I'll keep a close eye on the oil level while my boy is riding.
If someone else can point me in a different direction I would appreciate it.
Set my spark plug gap, set mixture screw, cleaned out gas tank (with gas)... Quad itself is only 5 months old and the engine (like I said) is brand new.

So the crank case hose I replaced with the hose for a toilet - You know the rubber hose with the wire mesh around it. I just cut it off to size and rigged it to filter through the air filter using parts from old air filters and the oil level is right at the top of the XXXX on the dipstick.
