Default Pull starter hard and sticking

Pull starter sticking and hard to pull after fitting new rope. I have a chinese 49cc mini quad for my 2year old was starting great first or second pull every time . But after the cord snapped and replaced it’s hard to pull and it’s jurkie or sticking when I try to pull the cord it’s fine when it’s off the bike but won’t turn properly when I put it back on. Any advice on how to fix this would be gratefully received. Thank you

Problems with the rope not winding in include, too thick a rope, too long a rope, not enough tension on the spring. Problems in pulling it out are usually incorrect assembly of the mechanism that grabs the part fastened to the crankshaft. There are lots of different set-ups for this mechanism, you are quite often best looking at another similar assembly, and copying it.
