Tao Tao 110cc starts sometimes and sometimes doesnt
#1
Hey everyone,
Have an odd problem with my 110cc Tao Tao got it from my brother in law, put a new carb in and it's ran great for a few months, sat for a few weeks and went to start it and fired right up no problem. Then went to start it a few days later and no start, no brake light when foot brake was applied, no power at all with ignition on. Replaced ignition switch thinking that was it. Still no start. Unplugged a the kill switch re plugged in, still no start. I messed around turned the key off and on about 10 times then all the sudden fires up. Then it started 3 days straight no problem, then tonight same thing but this time I got it to start ran it for 10 minutes then shut it off then thought I'll check it again and see, but then no power, no brake light with rear brake applied, nothing. So I turn the ignition off and on a few times, try unplugging and re connecting a few connectors still won't start. Try the ignition off and on another dozen times, then it works. And then I turn ignition off and on seems to work every time after. It seems to be good for a few days then no good, the last week it's sat in my garage and didn't move either. Anyone have any ideas? Is it the CDI black box thing maybe? Thanks

Definitely not the CDI. Bad battery connection, bad earth, or the main red wire from battery to fuse to ignition switch, or just possibly from switch to handlebar control box. Could be the switch for the brake. If it has a remote kill switch box, this can play up too.
