Just bought a used 110cc TaoTao
#1
Hey everybody,
I just joined the forum. I just bought a used Chinese atv for my kid. From what I was told it’s a 110cc Tao Tao and I’m pretty sure that is what it is.
It has been sitting for about a year so I got it in non running condition. I got it home and put gas in it and hooked a battery charger up to it. I got it running and I let it sit running for about 5 minutes. When I went back by it there was a big puddle of gas underneath it. I noticed there was a hose coming out of the bottom of the carb that wasn’t hooked up to anything and it was steady dripping fuel. It is nighttime so I didn’t really have great light so it was hard for me to really see. I couldn’t see any place that it looked like it would hook up to. I held it up and it stopped dripping but then I couldn’t really tell but it kind of looked like it was also dripping from the bottom of the actual carb itself. I’ve been trying to google images and diagrams of the carb set up but can’t find any pictures or videos or anyone saying where the bottom card hose hooks up to.
Does anyone know where it connects to? Or if it doesn’t connect to anything and it is suppose to just dangle down to the bottom of the atv, then does anyone know why it would be leaking gas out of it? While it’s running it seems to be running pretty good especially for something that hasn’t been started for like a year. It doesn’t run like there is anything wrong with the carb.
Thanks for reading and I appreciate any info anyone can give me

The question is where is the hose coming from? My guess would be the bottom of the float bowl and it will be there to allow fuel to drain away if the float needle sticks, like the overflow pipe on a toilet cistern. Never, ever, lift it up to stop it dripping, as all that does is make the overflowing fuel run into either the cylinder or air filter. Easy way to fix is turn fuel tap off, run engine until bike stalls and turn tap on again, if there was some grit stuck under the needle, this may flush it through. If that doesn't work, a carb clean will be needed. Persistent offenders will need either an in line fuel filter to catch the grit coming from tank, or a new float needle if the problem is a faulty needle, rather than dirt in the tank.
