I changed a CV join boot on my SP500 yesterday and had a problem to install a large clamp on it. Is there any special tools available for this repair?

Yeah, I think so--something like the tools used to strap wooden boxes for shipment.

I don't have one of these special toos, either! I just tightened up the clamp (actually, pulling on the strap end with a pair of visegrip pliers) as much as I could, bent the strap over, and cinched down the whole thing with a nylon wire tie around the entire circumference.

A crude solution, but: hasn't come off yet!

You might try a auto parts store. I have a pair of pliers that are for auto cv boots

Thank's for the answers. I used a pair of visegrips also. It worked fine, nevertheless I'd like to have a right tools. It may be a common repair..?The plastic tie-wrap is a good idea.
