Default 1 rear tire spinning--HELP!!

My cousin has an 88 Yamaha moto 225. He said that only one rear tire spins when it gets on a hill or pine straw. He thinks it might be the rear axle. What do you guys think? Thanks for any help.

I am pretty sure it has a solid axle, so if one wheel is spinning and not the other, maybe the hub threads are stripped????

If it has a solid rear axle and one tire is spinning it can be a very dangerous situation if its not fixed.

Thanks for the info guys. What would the fix be and the cost; if you had to estimate. I'm sure he will take it to a dealer.

I figured that it would not be a good thing, so hopefully he can get it worked out.

First off, you can check it easily by just pulling the cotter pin out of the hub that is spinning. Undoo the nut (might not be possible). You will probably find that both the hub and axle are stripped. So, you are looking at a new hub and axle, and probably a nut.
