Default taller front tires

Any reason to have the front tires taller than the rear's? I am thinking about buying a 2003 Polaris Sportsman 700 and the front tires are taller than the back. Is it for trail riding? Plowing snow? Mudding? Racing? This wheeler does have a plow, passenger seat and passenger foot pegs and a holder for a gas can built off of the rear rack. So I am assuming the taller tires has something to do with trail riding??? Any idea's are appreciated.

the only quads I've ever owned with taller tires in the front were my sport quads- all my 4x4 atv's have had the same size (height wise) tires all around. opt (oldpolaristech) probably knows a thing or two about that...

Someone screwed up , the tires on a 4wd must be the same Diameter or when in 4wd the front and back grearing will fight each other.

When stock a 2003 700 Sportsman has Front: 25 x 8-12
Rear: 25 x 11-12
2003 Polaris Sportsman 700 Twin ATVs

So it should have the same diameter tires.
