New style TCS shocks?
#1
Does anybody have any information on what the newer style TCS shocks will be like. I understand that they are upgrading to a larger shaft, but will they be adding hard annodizing and dual adjustability? I have narrowed it down to the Works Pro-series or the Elka, but now I think I have to reconsider the TCS units. How about pricing as well.

I haven't heard anything about the larger bodies. I know that TCS have the original dual-rate shock w/cans, & triple-rate w/cans. They are also offering dual and triple-rate shocks w/o the cans. You can add them later if you would like. There is also a triple-rate conversion for the dual-rate fronts. I am not sure about the compression adjustments, but I believe that they are still just compression adjustable cans. Hope I helped.

Why on earth would someone pay $200 more for a front pair and not get the anodizing?
Seems TCS may have priced themselves out of the market if the word gets out....
If anyone wants to see what triple rate Elka's look like on the front of a 400EX go here. If anyone's interested I'll take some pics of the rear & better pics of the fronts.

Well, it's hard to compare because they are setup so differently... My TCS's were setup for MX, big jumps, and +2 control arms. My Elka's are setup for "A" class XC racing.
The Elkas have a much more firm spring rate, they seem to corner really well. I'm sure the TCS's would land big jumps better, but I have yet to test the Elka's and their adjustability. The Elka's offer a much more controlled ride & really soak up the bigger hits well.
I never really was happy with my TCS rear - It would land really big air without bottomming (don't know if I ever bottommed it, it was probably going hydraulic on me), but it was really harsh. The Elka rear may prove to be to soft - but it seems to have a descent amount of adjustability, so it may be all right.
Let me know if there's anything in particular you want to know..
