If it the orignal chain on the bike, they don't have master link at all.
Use the chain breaker to break it.

Only on after market chains.

It is the original chain. If I grind it or use a chain breaker (what's a chain breaker) then how can I put it back together securely. These may be dumb questions but I always had shaft drive before.

Why you need to take the chain out for?

The chain breaker that you can get it at the bike shop for about 20 dollar.

oop hit the enter buttom too early

Once you break the chain, I believe you can still use it as long you got the master link of the brand of the chain you want to break. Also the chain must be good. If not go buy a new chain.

I have alot of sand build up in the wax. Just thought it would be easier to get it really clean.

There is a master link on the o ring chains. to save u some money on the chain breaker, just get a screw driver and a hammer and some pliers. it's not that hard once u find the master link. but if u can't find the link, maybe the key fell off of the chain. just look for an opening on the chain anywhere. if u can't find it well, just do as perrya said, BREAK OUT THE GRINDER

Aftermarket chains and some OEM chains have master links. Some OEM chains do not. If you find the master link, then it can come apart. If yours doesn't have a masterlink, then do what desracers said and get a chain breaker tool (~$20) to break the chain. But you'll have to buy a master link of the same brand chain for when you put it back together.

Or if possible loosen the chain and slide off the countershaft sprocket and also rear tire, and you should be able to take the chain off that way without having to "break" the chain.

Can't give any specifics because I don't know what quad it's for.
