The amazing race used to refer to our house with one bathroom and five people.

My oldest got into a magnet school this year and it is so hard for him to catch up- he didn't do well in the last school he was in, had the same lazy teacher 2 years in a row since they moved the teachers up a grade with the kids. He has been struggling to catch up with the kids in the magnet school. That TAKS test is too much pressure- I don't see why kids should be held back because they can't pass a test but can have passing grades on their report card? Its STUPID! There is my b*tch for the day~

I think they spend too much time trying to prepare them for one test, instead of just teaching them.

We didn't have them when I was a kid, and I turned out alright.

Ok, my brother and sister did anyway.

I'd agree but my kid is so advanced over where I was at her age it's unreal. I think standardized tests are the only way we know for sure our kids are getting a good education. Otherwise we have no basis for comparison. With that said, I don't think a 3rd grader should be held back because of a test. With test data, you can target weaknesses and accelerate that child's learning.

Don't get me started. I could go forever. There are a lot of weaknesses but a lot of good things too.

Think we both are showing great restraint by not responding to the fish smell, line.

But I know your thinking it too.

Now why in the WORLD would you bring up ties? That's the second time I've sniffed something fishy and we're a long ways from water.
