I just ask because I am using a brand new flag - been out 3 times with it and it hasnt broken yet. I thought they only broke if you rolled them. Im not much of a daredevil though - maybe thats it
For me it's mostly where I ride. I don't ride dunes (don't have any dunes within a day's drive even). The place I ride at is abandoned coal mines, so we have mud pits to ride in, then when you get stuck sometimes you end up having to jump on the grab bar to get the machine to do what you want. I've seen everybody break one that way at least once. The trees can do a number on them too, a couple times mine were just slowling splintering away to nothing because of the repetitive stress. Then of course everbody accidentally ninja kicks one off the back when they swing their leg over before they get used to having a flag back there. I got a spring mount, and that fixed all of that. Well, most of it, the trees still manage to tear the flag itself apart by the end of the day, even though the fiberglass rod is still intact.

Put a little electrical tape above the mount. . . it keeps it from splintering.

Quick releases have worked well for me.

Check out this company. www.hbmcanada.com Click on their products icon and then on the ATV Whips.
They manufacture very durable whips made for extreme conditions.

All I got to say is Wheeler whips Springy flag pole holder at Rocky Mountain ATV. The last $20 you will spend for a flag mount and you will never buy another flag. I used to break flags 2-3 times per outing to the dunes. Now I have yet to break one. I love the springy mount.

I'll second that. I've been running my clickwhip for 3yrs now without any problems. Installing is as easy as hooking up an air line. I don't remember the owners name but he is a real cool guy that will take care of you if anything goes wrong with your flag.
