<< 2 fun, do you have a problem running short on fuel when you stay at Sand Hills? I looked at a map and it sure seems like it's a long ways from Egin Lakes and Desert Oasis. Where are the other two that are going on the same week staying? Has anyone camped at Egin Lakes before? >>

I can say from experience that running out of gas is a strong possibility. Last trip I ran out of gas about 1/2 mile from camp (Sand Dunes Resort) and made it on little more than fumes another time. If you are on a 2 stroke and plan on running a few hills and bowls you need to bring extra gas if you go all the way from end to end. Plan on about 4 to 5 hours ride total.

Don't know. Never been there before, but there will be people in our group (hopefully) who have been there before.

I was told to have one vehicle (truck) at each end of the dunes with gas, so you can fill back up when you get to the other end.

Oh yeah, all you guys/gals that normally ride at the coast, what kind of jetting changes do you have to do when you go to St. Anthony?

I'll be riding a 250R. Would going down 1-2 sizes on the main be pretty close? I believe St Anthony is ~ 4000 feet in elevation.

Sandgod, would this be a guy at the St Anthonys resort? Was checking it out. looked nice but don't need a nag. Will be stopping there as well as Little sahara Utah at the end of this month.

Yeah it's him and his wife. I know he needs to keep on his place or it will get ruined, but he could be nicer about the whole thing. I will never pay him another dime of my money. I stay in a hotel in Saint Anthonys now... Stop at LS, Utah if you havent been there. It is well worth seeing and experiencing Sand Mtn and the whole area especially behind Sand Mtn...Get off exit 248 if coming back from Idaho to LS, Utah. Oh....... Rocky Mtn ATV is off exit 252 on the west side of I-15.

Will be stopping at Little Sahara Utah first. Didn't even think about Rocky Mountain ATV. LOL. If its that close I may just have too. We go to Montana for fishing and camping every year for 2 weeks. Been doing that for the past 4-5 years. This is the first year we will be taking our quads. There is a place in Montana near the Blackfoot river we were going to go riding at just above Garnet ghost town. Mountain trail riding. We figured we'd stop at LS sand dunes on the way. But now that I've learned of St Anthonys as well, we'll stop there to. This will break up our drive nicely. Was originaly looking for any Dunes in Montana's west side when I stumbled on St Anthonys. Anyone know of any Dunes in western Montana? My wife is probably getting a bit PO'd. Whats suppose to be a family camping/fishing trip is quickly turning into a dune riding trip. LOL. Thanks

2fun, The truck idea isn't necessary or practical. You couldn't get a truck to the southwest end (by Devil's Dune and Chokecherry) anyway. Depending on your machine you may want to bring extra gas if you camp at the Sand Dunes resort. If you stay at Egin lakes you should be fine. I can't help with the 250R jetting but on my Banshee I run 270 Mains and 1 clip leaner on the needle there. Elevations is actually 5000 feet.

WyoDuner;
So maybe one position up on the clip?
Have you ever ran at sea level?
That is where I normally ride, so I was wondering how many jet sizes to go down.
I run a 195 Main right now that is a little on the lean side.
I figure I could either leave it as is (being on the lean side), or drop 1-2 sizes for the large change in elevation.???
