whos gonna be down at St A's from the 30th of may to the 3rd of June?

Where are y'all gonna stay? Do you have to trailor your stuff from desert oasis or is it connected to the dunes?

 

You can ride from Desert Oasis into the dunes, a path that's a few hundred yards maybe.

I'm heading down for Memorial Day weekend. But I'll be making several more trips this year too. Who knows, maybe I can do back to back trips....

 

Hey shady, i've been to the dunes before but i don't remember the names of the roads to take. From I-15 you take hw 33 or something like that? After that I don't know how to get to the desert oasis camp ground either. Do you have directions?

 

I'll assume you're going south thru Salmon. Take 28 straight out of Salmon about 75 miles to the stopsign which is highway 33. Take that east and go across I-15. Keep going on 33 until you hit Rexburg. At Rexburg take a left on highway 20 which is just before you actually enter town. Go a couple of miles and take the "North Rexburg" exit. Turn left and go over the highway, heading north. (alternate: go straight into Rexburg, and turn left at the stoplight where the Suzuki shop is) Go about 6 miles north to the stop sign & blinking red light. Turn left there, to go to Egin lakes access or to Desert Oasis. There's signs at this point. Or to go to the Sandhills resort, go straight at the stop sign. You're looking at the dunes of course at this point if it's daylight. Don't go on I-90 to I-15, that's much further. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/img] Shady

 

We got options then. We have always taken the dillon rout. Is the salmon rout faster? How long does it usually take you to get to the dunes with all your trailers and everything?

 

If you're talking about going through Missoula then 90 to 15 and down thru Dillon, Salmon is quicker by a good 2 hours. If you're going thru the Big Hole to 15 right at Dillon and down, Salmon seems to still be a little shorter. Takes about 5 hours I guess for us, pulling doubles. With just the 'wheelers on the trailer and no camper, just over 4, doing a lot of it at 75 mph. Done it so many times the truck just "goes there".

 

Ya we usually go through the big hole but i guess we will have to try salmon. I couldn't remember how long it takes to get to the dunes so i was asking to find out when we should leave. You will have to let us know how the dunes were over memorial. Hopefully no rain and it will be pretty warm.
