When I was a kid I was flying a kite that had about 1000 ft. of string out. I saw some black clouds coming my way so I started to reel it in. About half way in it started to hail. I could see the wall of hail coming at me. I started seeing daylight through my kite and it quickly lost it's soaring ability. I got pelted pretty good too. The only other hail of decent size here that I've seen was dime sized when a nasty line of thunderstorms came through.

My wife and I got pummeled by these while riding in the High Uintah Mountains on the Utah/Wyoming boarder a few years back.

Small hail like todays is fairly common around here in the mountains. The hail in the picture was in early July 2007.

Nice!! Im a hail technician myself. Im From the St. Louis Mo. area, but im currently in Ohio fixing hail damaged vehicles. You'll have to let me know if the town (not sure how big your town is,or if you have dealerships) gets any damaged cars so i can come out and fix some cars. Then on the weekends i can ride with you all on my companies expense. lol. The farthest i've made it west is to the big horn mountains in northern Wyoming. A guy i worked with in Calgary Canada lives there and ive been lucky enough to take several hunting trips and atv rides out there with him. Just got my bear rug back last week that i shot last spring! If all goes to plan, ill be back out there in about 2-3 weeks for another bear. Thanks again for all the photos!

6/05/2010 PST 74 Deer Creek Canyon

Sorry I haven't posted much lately, I have actually been working, wow I hate that word. LOL

Went for a short ride with my good friend Doug today, it was excellent.
I mixed in a few short videos along the way too.

Doug’s got a video of me crossing here too. As soon as he gets it to me I’ll post it here.
Should be a nicer video.

Then we took off up this little side trial.

Being the first ones up usually requires a little "tree removal".

Here we are in June and we’re still breaking through the snow, what a blast.

video following Doug through the snow

There are a few beaver ponds in these canyons and with the huge amount of snow we got this year the runoff is taking its
toll on their dams. We saw two of them that suffered major damage from the runoff.

Here are a couple of pictures from that 2-track trail.

That trail dead ended and we’re on our way back out. We still have a lot of
snow here, they say we haven’t had this much snow in the last 25 years.

Here’s the top of Deer Creek Canyon and I’m headed back home.

video last creek crossing
This is the last creek crossing; you can see the current actually push my ATV downstream.

It was a great day for a ride and a great ride.

Like how Doug caught you on that last backhanded compliment. What was he testing? Looked like a Polaris XP??? Once again, great riding pics. I'll be going up to Jericho ATV Park in NH in a couple weeks. I'll try to apply your diligence in taking pics and video.

Thanks Moose, Doug was riding a 2010 750 Brute Force, the reason for my first comment.

Doug's a pretty funny guy and quick witted too. All ATVs have their weaknesses and strong points, we just like picking on their weaknesses. I probably pick on my Honda more than he does.

He offered me the Brute Force for the day and he was going to ride a 2010 Polaris 550 Touring but I chose to ride my Rubicon instead. LOL, don't ask me why.

Please take some pics to share with us, I only took 74 yesterday.

I hope to take a bunch. I don't know if I'll do 74 on one trip though. We'll see how things are. I'm more apt to take pics if the weather is decent.
