ok so i pulled the carbs off again and completely went through them and soaked them in cleaner, i got my backfire fixed one of the new plugs i just put in had fouled out already, but the problems im having now is that sometimes when i pull in the clutch it wants to rev out really high, and when its cold it will not start at all unless I spray gas in it, maybe need hotter plugs?

hmm......do you have the line that connects the two carbs for the choke hooked up? not the balance tube by the reeds but the one right off the carbs.

do yourself a huge favor and get yourself a manual, its well worth the 30 or so bucks. look at the left side carb the one with the choke ****...you'll have the choke **** on one side of the carb but then on the other you will see a round port type thing sticking out. the hose runs from that port to the other port on the other carb. they are right across from each other.

not sure about the carb settings, do a search on the net or ask in the yamaha forum about carb setting.
