Default Covers on ATV's while towing?

I will be towing the ATV's about 3.5 hours to our next adventure. My question is, should I put the covers on them while in the trailor?

I thought I read somewhere where people don't cover while hauling due to the air blowing the covers around and roughing up the paint on the ATV's, but I can find it.

TIA

I cover my sled during winter due to slush and salt spray from on comming trafic but ATVs do not deal with that on trailer trips. Why cover a machine from rain that will end up being covered from head to toe in mud anyways on its first ride.

I suppose it is possible that the flapping cover could scuff the plastic or painted metal parts...but how much could it possibly do? It is not like it will be going on for weeks and months. I cannot imagine it would be enough to do more damage than riding through mud and trees and rocks would do......

If you want to cover them, go ahead.....I've done it before and I never noticed any damage from the cover. But I've done it more to hide what was under there than to protect it.....

People might not pay attention to utility ATVs for the most part....but when they see a bright yellow and black sport machine with Yoshimura Suzuki graphics, and decked out with lots of aftermarket goodies they do pay attention..... and I'd rather NOT draw any attention from those that might want to steal something.....

The cover could scratch up the quad pretty good if you are driving in sandy, dusty conditions. The sand will act like an abrasive if it is between the quad and the cover.

That cover will scratch the hell out of it. But if you ride where I do it will be scratched all to hell anyway. I wouldn't put the cover on myself but do what makes you feel good.

Well, I covered them and the $100 covers payed for it. Needless to say, I won't be doing that again!
I have a front brushguard on both ATV's and where they stick out a bit, they cut 2-3 holes in the cover on both sides. Also, the fabric that was on the rack extender was beat up quite a bit, and the webbing tie downs are thrashed!
Live and learn!
