Default Flat tire

Was riding today and was about 18 miles from the truck, when I got a HUGE stick in the left rear tire. Luckily, I knew someone who lived nearby and they kindly gave me a ride back to the truck. My question is,,, do many of you folks ever get flats ? This one was definately not repairable, which makes me think it might be a good idea to carry a spare on the front rack. I tend to wander far and wide and this could have been more than an inconvience. I carry fix a flat, but like I said,,,, this was a goner.

Default Spare Tire

I always bring a spare front and spare rear but leave them at the truck. I know that this is not going to be the most convenient thing in the world but someone else could go back and get it if needed. I have a thousand miles on my quad and have never had a flat on the trail...I have had them sitting in my garage after I got home...but never on the trail. I carry a patch kit at all times with co2 packs and an air compressor in case...we were able to put a tire back on the bead along the trail the first time we were out this summer so I like my chances without carrying a spare on the quad. Seems the spare on the quad would be a bit of a pain in the butt to me...just my opinion!

It seems like a freak thing. I took the tire off the rim today and found a 6 inch piece of old wood in there that probably had been laying on the trail for about 10 years and waited for me to come along and jump in front of my tire. The spares on the truck thing is a good idea though, and one that I will follow up on, next ride. Thanks for the imput !

There's a product called tire *****. These are ***** that go inside the tire, I think about 8 ***** or so per tire. They are filled with air. If one gets punctured, there are enough others so you can keep riding. Also, there is those foam inserts that go inside the tire.

Just heard from a visitor to our shop today who mentioned "tire *****". Sounds like something worth investigating. I bought a set of Mud Lites today also, and the difference between the Lites 6 ply and the stock tire is pretty amazing.
