Gas prices!

but moose, i'm crushed! just think about the work you get out of 1 gallon of fuel! how long will your lawn mower run on 1 gallon? how about your quad? your car or pickup truck? yeah, 5-8000 lbs moving up and down hills carrying things and you and other items, how many miles will 1 gallon move all of that stuff? yeah, quite impressive. i suppose orange juice is next after they go after the corn and sugar.

My small town (pop 2200) franchised Exxon dealer said he makes 6 cents a gallon on gas,has to pay for pump certification and repairs, plus has to keep a stock of branded items. Two years ago he installed a grill and seating area for serving breakfast and lunch and makes more money from this and beer sales than from the pump. This came straight from him to me not too long ago when I stopped in and talked to him when I grabbed a burger. Gas is on the average $3.40 a gallon in our area right now. BUT,playing devil's advocate, on the other hand we who were driving in 1973 know how well Jimmy Carter's gas price freeze went
Long lines, odd even days to get gas based on plate numbers, some people even chasing tanker trucks around, couple people killed in California, etc. Just rambling on about this I guess, but the small dealers aren't making a killing on gas. I'm all for free enterprise, best system the world has come up with to date, but cringe when I hear about the billions in bonuses to the execs when the average Joe can barely afford to fill his tank.

I worked at a small full service station back in the late 70's when I was still in school. Didn't do much business. Dad wondered how the guy that owned it kept the doors open. He said just selling gas, he'll make about enough money to pay the light bill.
Oh, Friday gas was 3.34 by the house. Saturday morning, it had gone up to 3.49.

They are fairly accurate. Used them a bunch of times to figure out where to fill up on the way home or on the way in. When I put in my zip code, the first two places were off, but the rest were right compared to what I was seeing this morning.

oh if only i could have petrol for u.s prices
. just did a little conversion and for a gallon where i live it is....... $10.22 , meaning mpg is basically the deciding factor in buying an atv (yet i buy a 660
). i think finland/norway is worse though.
Infact pretty much everything atv/dirtbike related is 1.5X or twice the price that it is in the u.s to buy here
