So I am taking my family to the Hatfield McCoy trails in April. The trip is about 12-13 hours and I was thinking that rather then to jam them into the truck for that long I would rent a motor home. I found a good deal from cruise america. My trailer is a 16x7.5 aluminum enclosed trailer (sno-pro hybrid). The total loaded weight with 4 quads is about 3100 pounds (including the trailer). Now my motor home choices are either a 25' with a Ford v-8 or a 30' with a Ford v-10. Would either of these have an issue pulling the trailer? I am leaning towards the 30' just because of the V-10. Does anyone have any thoughts?

I would think that wouldn't be trouble for either. But since you're renting, you may want to see what they say the load capacity is.

I'm guessing it's a class C? I've seen some of those towing jeeps or small cars.

 

and see what they say about towing a trailer some rental places forbid the towing of any equipment with their vehicles just a thought for you to ponder

 

So I did ask and they allow towing up to 2500lb is what they say. I will be 3100 so I figure I am close enough :-)

 

ok as long as they permit it I rented a truck from somewhere one time it had a receiver on it but no wiring when I asked they said if I used the truck for towing that any and all insurance they offer would be null and void and any damages would be out of pocket so I didnt know if they were the same way or not.

 

either will do well. we have towed vehicles (mazda pickup and blazer) with a 26, 34, and 40 footer. With a gas engine, expect about 6 miles to the gallon
