Default Best, Smallest 4WD ATV for 12 Year Old

I am fairly new to the ATV scene and my 12 yr old brother in law needs a 4WD atv. What is the best, smallest 4WD available?

He is a small guy (4'8", 100 lbs).

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

New or used? There not made anymore but the smallest Engine size 4wd made where 250cc made by Arctic Cat,Yamaha,Polaris and Suzuki.

The Yamaha 350 Wolverine though was the lightest 4x4 ATV ever made at 485lbs it was even lighter then there Yamaha 250 Timberwolf 4x4 at 507lbs. 2002 Yamaha Wolverine ATVs

Not sure of the smallest now maybe a 350 Yamaha Grizzly 4x4 at 568lbs. In Comparison a Kawasaki Prairie 360 4x4 is 644lbs. 2012 Yamaha Grizzly 350 Auto. 4x4 ATVs

The old 350 Wolverine 4x4 was even lighter then many 2wd 250 and 300 ATVs.

A recently discontinued 4x4 was the 550lb Polaris Hawkeye 300. http://www.atvreviewnetwork.com/enth...le2=5601&go=Go

My 12 YO grandson and my wife handle the 300 hawkeye very well, steers easy and is very manuverable. Bought it new in 2006 and has been a good ride. (1600 miles)

The old Honda trx 300's were also a great little 4x4. Built like a tank, take a beating, and very reliable.

Go with the Polaris Hawkeye 300 (04-07), which was renamed the Sportsman 300 in 08 (08-10). I just sold my 08 and had a lot of fun with it. You should be able to find one for under $2500 in good shape. Good luck.

My Father in Law wants to buy him a new one. Any opinions on what would be the best "new, smallest, 4WD?" Thanks for the info so far!

wolverine would not be a good choice for a 12 year old, they can hit 60mph and are not easy to handle with full time 4wd.

p.s grizzly 125 would be a good choice, not sure if it is 4x4 though.
