No kidding. I can't recall the last time I backed into a tree.

My bet is production cost savings, rather then weight. They just want to have bumpers as money making accessories now.
Really whats the little bit it weight going to do on a heavy utility 4x4? I can put a passenger on the back and if he fell off I would probably not know until I looked back. Let alone a front bumper that weights 30-40 lbs tops.

A 500lb chic does not look more appealing then a 600lb chic. Fat is fat.

Ha yea that's what I read too at first. I agree, on a 4x4 utility quad, weight shouldn't be much of a concern. I can see it being a cost saving feature but jeez they want nearly 10k for the newer machines anyway, would a bumper cut into their profit margins that much? That still doesn't justify making the machines downright ugly. I mean that scrambler looks like something that may try to eat your face if you met it in A dark alley. Will smith and tommy lee would likely try to kill it lol.

Weight= more traction and is more of a advantage. Tractors add wheel weights for more traction,2wd trucks add weight in the box for more traction in the winter and ATV that plow or pull are advised to add sand bags to the racks for more traction.

If they can ever make a light 200lb 4wd ATV it sure will not win any dead pull or plowing contest.

Chic is slang for Chick so nobody mixes it up with the bird species. LOL

I had an 07 scrambler 550 4x4- the front end was heavier than the rear end- it was the most clumsy, uncomfortable atv I've ever ridden- not to mention the ugliest.

I don't like the look of the 05 and newer 400ex, just something special about those old style rally headlights on the 99-04 models. I hate how headlights on all sport quads now are mounted under the fenders or hood, just looks awful. If I ever got a 05 400ex it would be getting the old front plastics, the rear fenders were the same for awhile on those, not sure when they changed. I just wish mine had reverse.

550 Scrambler?

The last 4wd ATV to come under 500lbs was the 350 Wolverine and it had racks, but at 485lbs dry its still not a light weight. Now these so call sport 4wd are all over 600lbs.

If you ride a 600lbs machine your not going to notice it feeling lighter then a 700lb machine once your up in those high fat numbers.
