alternative for polaris agl gear oil?
#2
If you look at AGL it's not thick. Don't use plain 75/90,80/90 "gear oil" as it's too thick to circulate to all the bearings and gears. Amsoil is one oil you can use.AMSOIL Synthetic Chaincase & Gear Oil Think Klotz has a gear oil for this also, possibly Mobil1 has it to. Haven't kept up with all the different brands that you can use instead if Agl. The main thing is that's it's for chain driven gear cases. Just my two cents, the two main oils I'd use in one would be Agl and Demand Drive Plus hub oil for the hubs and front diff on later models.

This one I don't agree with. Any 75/90 wt oil synthetic or not is too thick to slosh around the gears and bearings in the gear case properly. And people wonder why they have bearing whine on some machines that have been using "rear end" fluid.. Again just my on this. Plus check the price on some of the others. Some may be cheaper, some higher than just staying with AGL.

Fearing it was a mistake, we cross-referenced the accuracy here.
Like always, we hope our readers make the best decisions with their equipment. It's actually rather surprising how often we receive questions from the net stating reluctance to run Polaris branded fluids. We've never had any trouble with them.
And keep up the good advice.

Thanks to the ATV Connection team for doing the research and not just doing a copy and paste for an article. Nice to know we have people that are actually looking into the articles and not just posting them.
I'm am probably one of, if not the only one, members here that has had OPT turn a wrench on their quads. When in doubt, I'm going to go with the guy that made a living keeping our quads running.
Good work all around.

AGL PLUS..... Spectro Platinum 75/90 GL1
Angle Drive Fluid... Spectro Platinum 75/90 GL5
"Angle" Drive Fluid is for ring and pinion differentials on Polaris machines,NOT to be used in chain driven gear cases becaue it's too thick to lubricate properly. They're getting mighty close to using one oil for both applications. Granted there is a small difference between GL1 and GL5,but that alone would make me not to consider it as an alternative for chain driven gear case lubricants.. Again just my old worth on this.
