twister hammerhead 150cc go off road go kart
#41
While surfing the net for information I was fortunate to find this thread. I purchased a Kasea 150cc 2 seat buggy for my 14 year old about 9 months ago. It was great fun and both my boys enjoyed it. For you dads out there you know how teens can be...after 3 months he lost the priviledge and I sold it on Ebay in 3 days for $2200 ( I paid $2400).
I just bought a KPX single seater, brand new, directly from KPX on Ebay for $1350.00 + shipping. It's currently in transit from CA and should arrive on 9/28. For any of you considering one of these karts I suggest you visit Ebay Motors, I also suggest that unless you are good with tools you find a local dealer.
Having owned the Kasea I know what it will take to assemble the KPX and basic trouble shooting is pretty easy, I hope I'm not a piston victim!

Well I went ahead and bought one at Gander Mountain, $2700 with discount so it sounds like
I paid a little too much. Another local dealer had the 2004 model for $2750, after a little research I found out the 2005 had a few updates like tires and more grease fittings. I can't wait till its broke in, I think its going to work great for me and my oldest son. could use more power and more suspension but exceeded my expectations. Went through some pretty gnarly ditches and easily does donuts in gravel and grass. I haven't been able to really punch it but doesn't seem like there will be a whole lot of power there. Just barely fits in the back of my small toyota truck (have to back it in and leave front tires sticking out).
So where do I find the pipe and jet kit for this? Does it help any? Will it fit the twister? It does not have the backup kick start like on some others, electric start only.
Can someone tell me what the heck I need blinkers and a trailer hitch for? I like the lights and rearview mirror but comeon, its not nearly fast enough or powerful enough to drive on the road especially with a trailer!
All in all I really like it and can't wait to get on some serious trails with it. It seems to be geared low enough to get through some tight stuff and pretty steep hills. Going through some rough stuff, it just picks up one of the front wheels and keeps on going! My son is better protected than on my brothers rhino also, It has better seat belts and the frame wraps around the riders. Really nice seats also.
thanks to everyone for there input!

So does the pipe give it any more power? Since you need torque on these CVT type machines I would be worried it takes some power off the low end and puts it all on top. I am considering ordering one just for the sound though!
My cousin put a pipe on his yamaha 660 utility quad (kodiak?) with automatic with no increase in power. I know on a regular quad that you control the clutch on a pipe can make a huge difference.
A little more suspension and power and this would be a blast to race! Ive already got a set of flat track tires on rims that will bolt right on for tt racing! Not sure how much jumping you could do in stock form, but I'm willing to try it.
Also, I could not find the Toy Junkie place where someone ordered there's, I did a search and came up with nothing.

I put their kit on my second KPX today. It does make a little difference. It's noticeable but not drastic. The sound is great though.

Yeah, a 10%-15% increase on 10hp wouldn't feel like a whole lot. I'm ordering one anyway.
Has anyone had problems with their chain Breaking? went to the dazon forum on some sandrail site and they where ******* the twister and kpx's because they only have one chain and they say they break alot. Not sure how this would happen, maybe if you jumped it with too loose or too tight of a chain?
Anyway I am sure you guys think I'm nuts for posting so much, just never knew a go-kart could be this much fun!

The 2003 Dazon Raiders are the only ones I've heard of breaking chain's(in fact my buddy broke his). That's why the Dazon's went with a dual chain setup. Which is totally ridiculous. The best cure would have been to use a better quality chain instead of duals. That's what my buddy did. And he hasn't had any problems since. A 180 HP Suzuki GSXR1300 Hayabusa has the same size chain, and you don't see them breaking. Dazon must've been using the cheapest chain they could find. I havn't had any problems with my Yerf or KPX's breaking chains.
