Default Rhino: To lift or not to lift?

Well...

What's the largest tires I can put on my Rhino without having to put in a lift kit? Right now I have 14" ITP's w/27" Mud Lites and would like to go bigger, but don't really want to put in a lift kit. I only want to do 28" or 29" tires.

Some of the stuff I ride in is like sitting the Rhino in a big tank of pudding, no traction, and it just sinks until I bottom out, and it's getting to be a pain in the @$$.

What are the main disadvantages to installing a lift kit?

Thanks

Mike
you need to call me!
A co-worker & myself spent days working on a lift. What we came up with is you can't lift the the rear, just the front. If you buy the $118 lift kit from lets say Coast Cycle World. The kit realy just moves the rear upper shock mounts out about an inch or so. We did'n see much lift there. We tried other stuff too. Look at the lower rear shock mount. If you add lift it puts the lower rear axle shaft boot into that shock mount bolt. I'm told you can flip the hubs but I've herd of problems whith this too.
For bigger tires. Add a little lift to the front and go for it. It will make room to turn the larger tires. (right to left)

I shouldn't have said you can't because you can but you start getting into big money with the type of kit that lowers the A-arms on the frame side. If you do this type of lift make sure to add in the price of Gorrila axles. You'll need em!

It might just be easier to go with better tires like 589's or gbs gators

I put 28" itp mud lites on my 06' w/no lift. Doesnt hit anywhere even in the twisty jeep runs. Clutch kit makes all the diff in the world for getting your power back too.

If you want to limit the Rhino's off-road abilities & slow it down, a lift kit with big tires are made just for you.

I found w/the 28's the extra 1 1/2" of ground clearance is nice. Riding with 3 other rhinos in a row you can really tell the difference. Having a superior tire than the stockers is nice for traction too.
