Worst Personal Injury to self or someone else seen on ATV

I would love to hear how many injuries come into the emergency room from mountain biking. I have 3 friends all with broken wrists from crashing. A few other riders have concussions, broken legs shoulders, and hips.

I'm a Paramedic , and I have to throw this one in there. I saw a 13 year old girl die on the street after an ATV wreck. I didn't see the wreck, but apparantly they were slowing down and another one rear ended them, causing it to flip/roll a couplr times, one time coming down on her head. She died from massive internal injury anf head trauma(no helment). I was there when they flew her out, and so was her mother and several of her friends, all watching us do CPR on this little girl. It may not be cool, but WEAR YOUR HELMENT!

I wrecked last year on my first trip to Sand Mountain, Nevada for DS Days. We had just modified my bike to a Fullbore 440 on Methanol. We just got there and I wanted to test out my bike. It was getting late I was flying down the drag strip in 5th gear when a gator with a 13 year old and his friends pulled out right in front of me. I flew over the handle bars and ate a little sand but besides being scared I was fine or so we thought. The kids in the gator were fine because I hit their front tire. Luckily my quad was good besides a bent tire rod. Well come to find out 5 months later it had caused internal bleeding and I had a softball sized tumor on my right side behind my kidney. I had many tests but finally had to have surgery to remove the tumor because at the time the doctors couldn't tell what it was or if it was cancerous. I had a major operation and was in the hospital for a week, also I missed a month of school. So I now have a foot long scar down my stomach that is still healing. Come to find out when everything was all over my doctor told me everyone thought I was going to die. THAT EXPLAINS WHY THEY TREATED ME SO NICELY!

i was at a friends house and we where riding on his road, and riding to one of his friends house. so my friend slowed down a little and signled one of my friends to turn, and the friend thought he ment pass him so the kid that signled him to turn slowed down a lot to turn, and the other kid hit his rear breaks, and ended up hitting the other kids quad jumping his z400 over the other kids. all that happend out of that was a hurt wrist(from the kid that got jumped), and the kid with the z400 just slammed his head down into his handle bars(was wearing a mask)

Today's Atlanta Journal Constitution page B1, reported an ATV-car crash, in Coffee County Georgia (rural Southern Georgia, near the Florida line, NE of Tifton, on a dirt road), last Saturday:

A LIncoln, on a curve, crossed the center of the road and hits the four-wheeler head on, kills 5 children outright, 1 in hospital in critical condition. Age of killed kids. Coranne Nelson 14, Kayla Varnedore 13, Lindsay Joiner 13, Dustin Varnedore 11, and Courtney Arsenault 10. The survivor, Heather Bass age 13, father's is wheelchair bound and cannot pay the medical bills. None of the children were wearing helmets. (No indication if helmets would have made any difference in a head on with a Lincoln) Time of crash, 9:20PM, driver of Lincoln, Amanda Troupe, age 29. The article said charges are pending against Troupe, but didn't specify the extent of the charges.
