my 250x won't start
i have an 87' 250x that won't start. it has plenty of gas and a lot of spark. there are no engine mods only a different pipe. it wouldn't start with the stock pipe either. i just got my new shocks on and i want to ride and jump with 'em but i can't. what else can i check? what do you think the problem can be?

try the new plug first if its the same as my old 92 there is a unit on the side of the top of motor (cdi unit i believe)take it off & you should be able to see the top of the chain & sprocket on the bottom ther should be a little plug its about an inch or so in size take the plug out. take the spark plug out & turn your motor over slow with your finger on top of the spark plug hole when you hear air pushing out passed your finger your are on the compression stroke use a piece of wire & stick it in the spark plug hole slowly turn your motor over until the piston is at the top. with the piston at top dead center take a flashlight & look into the hole on the side of the motor you should see marks on the flywheel there is a groove in the hole see if the groove & line are lined up with them in line witheach other look at the sprocket on top there should be a circle on the sprocket see if its lined up with the top of your motor remember your motor tilts forward if this is also lined up your timing is good if not you have to reset the timing. have you tried to put a little bit of gas on your filter to see if it will start that way? put your new plug in & have your dad help you put a little gas on the filter & see if it will start. does your motor kick over hard or alot easier than it did if its alot easier than you have weakcompression or bad timing. let me know if this helps you or if you get it started good luck
