i have an '87 honda 250x. when i'm in third gear the chain jerks and when i give it full throttle it barly goes and jerks alot. every other gear is fine. i just got new chain and sprockets as well as a new EBC clutch, yes the whole thing. i spent all my money and i didn't fix the problem. anyone know what's wrong and/or how to fix it? anything would be a help. thx.

 

i believe the early 250x's, like yours, had 3rd gear engagement problems. whats probably happening, is in 3rd, the engagement dogs on the ends of the 2 gears aren't fully engaging in each other causing it to jerk. to fix this you'll have to split the cases and shim 3rd gear so the dogs engage better. while you're in their you should replace the drive and driven gears for 3rd as well.
