Reversing front wheels on 300ex

I heard that turning your front wheels around to where they bolt up to the other side is like getting extended a-arms. Is this true? I dont know that it does on 300ex but I heard it does on a blaster. Is this even smart? let me know

It can be done, although you might have to relocate the valve stem to the other side. Although I don't speak for everyone here, most believe reversing the rims and/or using wheel spacers puts a lot of stress on the spindles. A cheap improvement in handling might cost you quite a bit of money in the long run.

yea you get about 2 1/2 on each side. I'm fixing to put on my new bandit tires with the front wheels turned around. to gain 5 inches for a dollar(new valve stems) is unheard of. you may have to replace bearings quicker,but that beats spending $500 dollars for a-arms. I don't think it will hurt anything cause this guy told me he had the front wheels turned around and wheel spacers on his 400ex and hasn't had any problems. I'm only worried that it's gonna make my shocks feel alot softer on big jumps. I feel that with this mod and putting the 20" shredders on the back will make my 300ex handle way better. well I should be trying it out today or tomorrow I'll let you know what I think. later

oh yea I forgot to tell you about the valve stems. if you turn them around now the valve stem will hit the brake. so you gotta pull that valve stem out turn it around where it's facing in to plug the hole. measure the hole then drill one that size on the other side of the rim. that's about it. later

I have a 98 Recon. My husband thought it would be a great idea to turn my front wheels around because when we bought it, I liked the idea of more stability. The first time I went on a fast, tight trail with the wheels flipped around, it wore me out so much, I flipped it and broke my collarbone. My suspension turned non-existent. Every rock literally beat me to death. Smart me didn't think that the front wheels was the problem, I just figured that all my large jumps were causing the shocks to wear out, and my weak bone was what caused the steering to be so sucky. Well, low and behold, 2 years later, we turn the front wheels back around, and my original quad is back! No more getting beat to death or totally worn out by the steering! I definately DON'T recommend turning the wheels around. It just throws everything off and makes for one heck of an uncomfortable ride.

you can get a set of 250r a-arms and use the spacers out of the 300ex a-arms to accomplish extended a-arm effect also. adds about 5-inches total and stock 250r a-arms are much cheaper than spindals when they tear up. also look in a jegs (automotive Catalog) for low profile valve stems. they have a set that are flush mount. (it has a special tool included to put air in) it will keep you from drilling and welding on your wheel. in other words the valve stem stays where it is.

If you decide to reverse the stock wheels...look at the lugs/ lug nuts... it might not be a flush fit on the hubs. one side (hub side) is flat), the other side is coned or truncated. Good luck!

well I did it to mine and it gives better stability and the steering isn't any different. I wouldn't do this if you are gonna ride tight trails cause if you hit a tree too hard it will bend your tie rod (this happened to me). anyways I don't care cause I never ride tight trails. I don't think it will break anything casue I've been doing about 6 foot high jumps and landing hard with no problems. later
