Default hot cam 1 or 2 ???

I going to have a 416 JE 10.8:1 compression piston and head work done, I want to get a cam too I would rather have the low end then the top end, i heard that the stage one is better for the low and mid and top but it says its for stock bikes, and stage 2 is more mid and top but for more displacement and more compression motors, which am going to have, i want the low end, can i go with a stage one still with my motor????

I have a stage I with duncan pipes and eldelbrook carb. I am taking my raptor in this week to put in the stage II I heard it's better. Should I put a JE piston on it? I don't crap about all this. I took my bike to bert's mega mall in west covina and they told me that they had to make the hole in the carb bigger supposely cuz it wasn't let too much out? Do any of you know about this?

To be honest I dont know a lot about the actual grinds on the hotcams for the raptor and therefore can only speculate etc. Actually the power we have gotten on that 660 with just typical intake and exhaust mods with proper jetting has been pretty good, and its been the suspension that has needed the most attention.

As far as the cams go I assume that the stage2 would have an increase in both lift and duration, and this will allow that engine to breathe much better, but the actuall amount of increase is what I dont know off the top of my head.

The best way to be sure of this would be to call hot cams directly (same people as pivot works if you need a phone number) and ask for Tony Tice as he is a great guy to deal with. Ask all the questions you need to as this should be their time to shine and tell you all about the difference in their products.

As far as the carb goes you will need to determine any individual componets in the system that are slowing down the flow, and an undersized carb (both the actuall size in mm and jetting) is deff not a good thing especially for top end power.

Do you have the single carb set up? I hear good things about it but have not used one etc but am curious what you think about it?

The one thing to remember is that all the parts in the engine need to work together and the ones that dont will reduce the power.

Thanks 440 EX 026 I appreciate all your help.

Have you heard about ferrera valves? I am thinking of putting some in.

To be honest I don't know much about the damm carb but I am taking it in again to have the stage 2 cam put on also a JE piston the sleeve and head gasket. Oh yeah with the stage 2 Im putting the kibble white springs I heard there the best.

I have had good experiences with kibble white, but have not used the valve your questioning though most of the people who really get into engine building will normally have their favorite this and that etc and normally its all good.
