Default 1990 trx 200

about 3 years ago at 13 I purchased a 1990 trx 200 with my own hardearned money and in a nutshell I was ripped off. It was my first fourwheeler and I didnt really know what to look for. I brought the quad home and went for a ride. The chain slipped off and cracked the left casing. Turns our this was caused by worn bearings and a rusted out axel housing. I think the previous owner liked the beach. Soo about $300, two years and many problems later I finally got the problems fixed but when I went to by new wrist pin clips the parts store didn't have the same clips and handed me some C retainer clips. They said they would work great. They didn't. They got to hot, broke off inside the cylinder, and trashed the cylinder wall. The gouges are so deep the dealer told me I would have to have the thing bored out, have a sleeve pressed in and by a new piston and rings. This would run more thatn $350. Im wondering what I should do. The 1990 trx 200 seems to be a rather rare quad. I cant find any used cylinders. Should go the sleeve route or get a new cylinder? Does any body know if any other models cylinders will fit the quad? and does anyone have a trx 200 cylinder they want to sell? I need an inexpensive solution to my problem.

Thanks, Brady Schimpf

Keep a close watch on ebay for used parts. Take you time when you work on it and only use the correct parts. Anytime you get in a hurry you are bound to make a mistake. Ignore people who tell you that you could have bought a better bike with all the money that you have spent. Hindsight is always 20/20 and you have to work with what you have or try to sell it as a parts bike which would be a big-time loss financially. Once you get everything fixed the bike should be very reliable.
