Definitly going to get a 13 tooth front sprocket for my 450R! Sounds great! Check out the dyno charts at this web site

Did that sprocket make it better to ride the dunes ? have you tried it with and without.
I just got back from the dunes and it was hard to ride - that 1st gear is so high...
im sure on dirt it would just take off -- im wondering if changing it will decrease the top end too much ???

Did the 13 make the front end wheelie happy??? I suspect Honda made the gearing tall, to keep the front end on the ground. Going to a 13 will mean you are sacrificing top end, in exchange for more low end. You say you spanked a YFZ, I am presuming you mean a SHORT drag race, NOT top speed down a long desert wash, right??? Most of us drag race only rarely, if ever! The YFZ makes its power at a higher rpm than the TRX, so I can imagine the TRX with a 13, checking out on the high end real early, compared to the YFZ.

I did some "trail" riding in the sand this weekend. This is an area (Snow Creek for you locals) where there are sand trails in and out and around the bushes. I swear I never got out of 2nd gear, and I was in 1st a fair amount of time! The gearing is just to tall for this kind of stuff! The 400EX is way more fun for this kind of riding. Plus the TRX front end "pushes" a little in tight turns in the sand.

I agree on the gearing being too tall.Did switching to the 13 tooth sprocket require removal of a link from the chain? I am also thinking flywheel weight would help.Anyone know if this is ofeered yet or if crf-450 weight could be used? Also, has anyone tried this "power now" device yet? It's supoosed to improve bottom end and throttle response.I've seen it for the crf-450 so maybe it will work on the TRX as well.....

We changed the sprocket on my sons 450 this past weekend while at Glamis. There is enough adjustment to take up the slack in the chain. It rode so much better that I'm thinking of also bumping the rear sprocket up a tooth.

great post, my 450 feels the same way, pushes a bit....think my bandit xcrs may fix that, those stock tires are pretty cheezy.
