450R falling short?

Yes i heard about this too, but for me, mainly a recreational rider there is no need. I dont feel as much as a need to upgrade anymore. I would probably look into it if i raced alot tho and wasnt poor..lol

I got a quick question about my 450rs carb so ill ask it in here rather than starting a new thread.
Can someone tell me where the fuel mixture screw is located? Im guessing it on the bottom, i just looked. Is it the one towards the front of the carb, more towards the left??

Well dude, stock hi performance quad verses modded hi performance quad, I wouldnt be surprised in the least if a modded 250r can beat a stock 450r depending on mods, but a modded 450r verses a modded 250r, i think the 450r would be better. IMO

i rode my frinds trx and i have good and bad things to say. good- feels comfy life most hondas and has a broad powerband but it was nothing like my yfz powerband, the trx didnt have that low end as well as a mid rpm hit, when i raced him on sand i beat him by about 2 quad lengths and when i raced him on dirt about 5, my tires are balding.

we only draged about 150-200 ft length wise so if it was longer i am pretty i would have beat him by more. the trx is competitive, there is no question about that but it boggles my mind to see the honda fall short of the yammy when honda has much more money and the capability to build a much better quad than the YFZ. IMO

Well just to make you guys happy I did go ride my buddies 450R yesterday. It had a Durablue heavy-duty(stock width) axle, an HMF pipe, K&N filter, and carbon fiber wheels......so it obviously wasn't stock. The power was very broad - I never denied that - and was always on tap. The front end does come up quite easily though which I found to be exciting and fun but my friend is waiting for a Lonestar +1 swingarm to fix that. It did feel a little tippy in the corners to me. Maybe I am just used to my R that sits a little lower and is a little wider. Like I stated numerous times even before I rode it - it's a great bike but I'll stick to mine.

Wistech, did he have an HRC kit? I bet he'd be pleased then.

I'm not surprised the Honda was slower. No Honda ever did make lots of power. What surprises me is that some reviews claim the Yammy HANDLES better. That is what's hard to believe. Yammy must have got this quad right.
