Default Help with trx250x

im looking for an answer to a question my buddy has. his 250x broke down over a year ago and he finally got it fixed. well the day he brought it home and started in smoke was pouring out the exhaust. i am thinking the engine seals are dried out and he just needs to ride it more but he swears the seals shouldnt be dried and leaking like that. Any help out there????

Could you be specific. What broke and what was fixed. Ive never seen valve seals dry rot in a year. maybe 5 to 10 years. I dougbt they would smoke like you describe either.

okay well what supposedly broke from what he told me was the sensor that tell the spark plug when to fire. that and they put a new side casing on the left side. well it ran like crap when he brought it to me today and smoked bad but after removing the exhaust we found alot of oil in the exhaust. to add to the mayhem me and another buddy(not the owner) decided to checking the fuel filter and a few other things to see if that was causing the problems. we saw why he has had so many problems with his quad. POOR MAINTANCE!!! the gas in it was nasty and brown the filter was clogged and the engine wasnt properly filled with oil. we cleaned up what we could but something is now wrong with the kick start. i recommended to him to just get a engine rebuild kit and have it done for him.
