Honda Foreman / pinion gear removal
Assuming you have the housing disassembled and in your hand, look at the end and you will see a hex nut recessed inside a tube. this is a 16mm hex nut, remove the nut (a deepwell socket and a air gun works best) with the hex nut removed, now remove the pinion joint, next you remove the oil seal (34x70x11) and once removed you will see a locknut (64mm) remove the locknut and there is a bearing under that, remove the bearing (22x62x15) now the pinion will come out. When you replace the pinion usually you change the ring gear also. This all comes as a kit, although pricey you will get a ring & pinion gear as a matching set. (do not use old with new, change as a set otherwise you are looking for trouble). price runs around 330-350 dollars for the kit. Hope this helps...
