What is the top speed for a stock 04' 400ex?

 

I was told 65 and i'd say its pretty close to that.

the 400 aint 68 i thought the 450R was 68?

 

450R is closer to 78 than 68.

Posted estimated for the 400ex stock should be anywhere from 63-65 or so .. varying conditions and riders could have varied impacts on that. Someone posted here that they checked their stock 400EX at 68 with a GPS and their stock (dial-a-jet only) Z400 at 66. Whoever did the posting owned both machines and really had no reason to tweak numbers ..

So yeah, somewhere in the area of 65 give or take a few ..

I don't know about the 400. The 450r with stock gearing and 20" American Racer flattrack tires did 74.5 mph on the dyno. With stock tires it would be close to 80.

 

i thought the highest top speed stock quad off the showroom floor was the ds??? and i think it went like 74...

 

I don't know about the DS. Those dynos are very accurate on speed. The speed with the stock tires was just a guess, flattrack tires are about 2" shorter than stock.

 

the problem with getting ur top speed from a dyno is that it doesn't account for things such as wind resistance, and traction issues. if u were to run a 450r with perfect traction with all the stock equipment, it would not go as fast as the dyno said it would go, because of wind resistance, and the weight of the rider will slow it down as well.
