I was riding with some people today and was going to go through a mudhole and went to downshift, I was in 4th gear and it would not upshift or downshift so I shut the Rancher off and got the gear shifter from the trunk, I tried to put it in neutral with the back up shifter and it would not do anything so I tried and tried and ended up having to get towed home. The Rancher is in the garage still yet in 4th gear... It is only 7 weeks old. If anyone has had this problem or know of any way to fix it please let me know thanks alot...

Ok you might have tried this allready but i'll tell it to ya,

Try to shift it while you push the ATV, that always works for mine when it can't shift.

If you can I would take it back to the dealer and make them fix it.

You should call the dealer or just take it to them since it is still under warranty... and it is the machinces problem, not like you rolled it or dumped it off a cliff.... just talk to the dealer... later

There are 3 or 4 sensors on the Rancher, check each one. Remove from engine, clean, & re-insert.
Check your shift buttons to make sure there is no mud in them. If so clean.

Try this, if it doesn't work, then take it back to the dealer.

Good luck

I had the same problem with mine. Luckily, it is an easy fix. The problem is with your angle sensor. You can follow snowshark's advice and fix the problem yourself or return it to the dealer. If you fix it yourself, after you have cleaned the connectors, fill them with dielectric grease. That way you won't have any recurrence of this problem.

I took it back to the dealer and they said there was some kind of a recall on them, the shifter arm breaks or something like that. They are gonna fix it free of charge, but it is gonna take like 2 weeks to do since their mechanic is on vacation or some crap like that...

Are you sure about the recall? I checked with the dealer where my Rancher was purchased, they told there is NO recall on the Rancher's electric shift.
