That **** is the idle, so adjust it if you need to. Mine needed idle adjustment after I had ridden it a few times. Mine also had a little bog in the midrange, about 3rd gear and half-throtle. Went away though after I put on a pipe, air filter, etc.

I put on the FMF Factory 4 complete system, UNI foam air filter, vented airbox lid (http://www.ehsracing.com/), HRC cam, and of course a rejet The UNI filter doesn't have that restrictive screen insert that the stock filter has, and flows air very well. I use to have K&N's on all my bikes, but am going back to foam for a greater margin of safety. The EHS airbox lid, probably makes more of a difference than ANYTHING else.

Does the uni come with something to keep it from collapsing without the inner metal screen you removed?

I agree turning up the idle will help...it is a new engine that is still tight... it will need time to loosen up. I broke mine in on a small mx track and almost killed myself in between a small set of doubles...I was singleing them and the quad whould snub for a split second, causing me to lurch forward hitting the gas, then it would bumpstart, sending me off the second one at about half throttle!! Never had a prob after it was broke in doing the same thing.
