lol this is a funny topic...flaming at the adult level, hahahahahahah

hmm...the 400ex could just get a pipe, airfilter, cams, that sorta thing if you dont want reliability issues with bore kits

Default Honda 400EX to a 440?????

Wow! This is kind of fun listening to everyone. I really do appreciate all the input and advice from people who really know what is best from experience. Someday I will be able to speak my experience to someone as well.

Simply this; she is light but the 400ex is very slow when it comes to riding the big sand dunes. It need paddles but then those slow it down even more. I would like to get it as close to the power of a 450 as possible. Will a good cam, porting, filter, gearing, new carb and all this stuff increrase the power that much? I heard the 440 is reliable. I basically want the new Honda 450 but with reverse and electric start for her. I am trying to accomplish this throught the 400ex and I think I can with the right assistance...

Thanks!

Greg

ghawkman, have you ridden a 400EX? (not saying they are the FASTEST or anything)
But, they are PLENTY fast for a 115 lbs female to fly up any dune with paddles!!

One thing I have seen 400EX's with paddles do is to lower the front tooth sprocket one tooth, try it. With my Trinity 440 I can run Competition Hill at Dumont in 3rd gear rapped out with 15/36, taller gearing. I can beat piped raptors and predators by 5-10 bike lengths. A piped yfz with I don't know what other work destroyed me by 10+ bike lengths. On flat ground a stock YFZ beats me by a couple bike lengths.

Ya. I owend a 2003 400EX. I weigh 180 and it was worthless in the sand dunes. I have a 250R done up to a 350 stoked and she needs to at least keep up.
