do you happen to remember the size of the stock pilot jet. My local dealer said it's a 45 and that they don't make a bigger size. we might not have been talking about the same thing. what size did you upgrade to? thanks for your help.

I ride a Foreman instead of the rancher now , but i ordered a performance kit, k&n filter, jet kit with needle, and a hmf pipe from a company called atvoutfitters.com.. they had the best prices i could find..the kit came with a sheet to guide you as to what jet size to use. You choose by the elevation of where you live or ride..for example, sea level to 3000 feet, i usea 165 jet and #4slot from the top on the new needle with the kit. It runs great, was fairly easy to install, the carb jetting takes the longest, probably 4 hours total to install and fine tune the entire kit..The torque is unreal on the Foreman now..I usually ride in 4th gear from start to finish on most trails now. The kit really wakes them up or at least it did for me and the Honda fourman 450. I highly reccomend it..

If I remember correctly, 45 is the stock size and I went to the Kehin 48. Don't quote me but your dealer should know. That's what they do for a living. I'm an HVAC contractor, so when it comes to bikes, I do what the dealer tells me.
Part of the problem when I got the Dyno Jet kit was that DynoJet was no help. I did what the generic instructions said and had bad results. I called DynoJet and they gave me no "helpful" Information. I added an HMF pipe and got their suggestions also and had bad results. Finally, I went to the dealer in my area that builds race bikes and he said without hesitation to scrap the jet kit and upsize the pilot jet and raise the stock needle 1 position. (that means lower the clip 1 position) He gave me the jet for free and I put it in and it worked great! The only thing he asked was that I give him my stock jet in trade, which I did, therefore, I can't tell you the stock size because I no longer have it and can't remeber for sure which one I put in.

I hope this helps.

You may want to call www.hondapartsworld.com
Those people know quite a bit and are very nice.
