I have a 1984 xr 200. It starts up when the engine is cold, but after about 20 minutes it wont run any longer. It wont start again, until the engine is cold. It is stock, and has not had a real tune up in .....Probably ever! Any suggestions as to how to get it running decently would be greatly appreciated!! I dont know if i need to take it to a mechanic for a top end or what. I know there might be many things wrong with it, but any help would be great. Thanks.

 

Before you spend too much money in 4-stroke engine work......give the valves an adjustment, clean the carb + rebuild it, change the oil, change the spark plug, get a new air filter. I had an XR250R..once you get that beast running good..you won't need to touch it again.
