Tire Chains on your ATV
#11
I plowed snow from my driveway with my Quadsport for about four years. I put chains on the rear and used bailing wire on the inside and outside of the wheels to tie them up tight. It got real good traction. I'd leave them on through spring for mud runni'n. The chains were old garden tractor chains. I could break trail without the plow through over 12" of snow. Of course, my butt was hanging off the back and front wheels were "floating" on top of the snow. If the snow built up to over 6" on the driveway, I'd have to raise the plow and run a few passes, then go back with the plow down. Once I got a path, I could cut away at the rest. Unfortunately, snowplowing got the best of of the old 230 last winter. It was just too much for the tired machine, the piston locked up terribly, practicaly welded the piston, pin and rod together. (Sob) It's going to be different this time. Got the Sportsman 500 with a plow and winch to lift it. Can't wait for the snow to fly. The Quadsport has been retired, for now, but I plan on making it a father/son project.
