ok well i have a 86 foutrax i recently cut the muffler off right infront of the muffler and i just seen this last post aobut if you do anything to the exhaust you havto with the carb to? is this true please tell me what do cause i dont want to burn up my motor.

If these things are like car engines then just do a wide open run and cut off the engine at wide open throttle. Pull in clutch if manual or just push shifter down, if auto clutch, and hold it until stopped. Pull the plug and look at color on the ceramic. Black is rich, white is too lean, and brown is perfect. Two stroke engines are more susceptible to damage due to lean condition but four stroke can run too lean and destroy itself also. That is for wide open throttle only. Idle jet and mid range is adjustable also but you need some experience to adjust these.
