I ENJOY the kick starter! It starts way easier than my buddies Banshees. The extra weight of a battery and starter, isn't worth it.

I could use reverse, but I don't NEED reverse. I would take it only if it came with no weight penalty.

 

yeah i like i said the only problem for me is keeping it on all 4s, its the best wheelie quad ever. so if the 450r is what ur looking for, then dont worry it should be trouble free with maintenence. u'll like it better then the banshee in almost every aspect of riding

 

DOes anyone have a 450r with black plastics? I really like the way it looks, but if they look bad after a short time, then maybe red would be the way to go. Any opinions?

go for the 450r, yamaha has lots of issues on their starters. kicker is better i have to live with that on my 18 year old ATC

Mine's black too. Just added a pic in my gallery. I can tell it's going to show scratches more. Still, it looks so nice when clean. Don't regret my decision regarding color. Now, don't like the kickstart at all. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but really miss electric start. Having no reverse is not a big deal at all.

 

im not really sure about the yfz but the raptors and warriors have lots of starter problems, my firends 2003 raptor is on its 3rd starter, and my cousins 2002 warrior is not running due to stater issues, and some guy when we wend ridind his yfz wouldnt start, we didnt know if if was battery or starter but he said he was more sure it was starter. if you own a yfz i suggest you get the kicker backup.
