Xenon bulb's for my rancher???
#1
I was wanting to increase my lighting on my 2001 honda rancher with xenon blue boosted bulbs. I called the local honda dealer and dennis kirk as well and both carried them but could'nt tell me if they would fit my machine or not!!("Alot of help they were!!") Anyone out there got any info. on this subject? Thanks for any input!!!

Beware of the "blue" bulbs - although they are the fad right now & popular with the coffee can exhaust and 13" tires/wheels sticking out from the wheelwell crowd, the blue tinted bulbs have little to do with Xenon.
HID - the technology used in the high end cars with the purple cast is much different than simply coating a bulb, and not available on quads. They operate on basically the same principal as a flash on a camera, except that they "flash" so fast that it seems to be a continuous light to the human eye.
Do a search on dejanews for the science behind those blue tinted lights. They are not all they are touted to be. The blue tint is really a filter that is filtering out the other colors of light being output by the bulb - which equals less overall lighting energy. There is good reason that true HID's are a $1000-1500 option. If simply coating a light bulb with a blue film or other "mystery substance" could make a positive difference in lighting output, don't you think it would have been done years ago..
