.. i earlier posted a top sepad of 72. something in this post.. but now my trail tech endurance computer tells me 76.8 with 2 thenths bore. less of a piston/wall clearance then stock and thats about all i have done to my quad.... if no one believes me i will take a picture of the computer readings for you. ..showing you the 'top speed' ---that is with huge rear tires to... GBC 10" mudsharks with about 50 miles on them... the reason the readings switched from 72 to 76 was because before i had only a 14tooth front sprocket and now i've gone back to stock and put a 15 tooth back on.

 

Orky I serioulsy think there is something messed up or needing calibration with that unit your using.

Not that the ex isnt able to reach those speeds, but with the heavy tires and aggressive tread pattern robbing much needed hp and the mostly stock internals you describe etc its just not making sense.

I guess anything is possible but I have to question 76mph with that set up.

 

yea they do a stock 400ex tops out around 65-67

 

listen: my quad is near stock like u said 440ex026 but my motor is tighter then specs.. it's with in 50 MILLIONTHS of an inch. that means taking one inch and dividing it 50 million times... -- my motor was done on a 300,000.00 machine that normally produces engine components for military planes, as well as missille guidance systems. My piston/wall clearance is un-heard of and in fact every one told me i was gonna blow my motor due to it.. this has some intense compression. my sprockets are 15/38 - i will take a picture of the readings on my trail tech endurance comp. -- i've also been clocked by a radar gun doin 75 so... u guyz can all call me whacked but i'm tellin u right now, 76.8 is what it says. ---also keep in mind this is down a paved road.

mine will pull 75 but its modded so it really doesn't count

 

idk - my dad did the top end at work.. he works for an aerospace industry company and has access to basicly any kind of machine u can think of from grinders to machines that cut through metal with water and wires as thin as fishing line, to CNC. I forgot to also mention - i lapped the valve seats and head.

 

My 05 400EX is 100% stock and my friend has an 05 King Quad believe it or not he takes me at take off. I'm A little rusty thou on take off it's nothing like my bike it wants to wheelie to easy(but that's why I bought it) I weigh 100lb more to but once I shift into 3rd I smoke him he top out at 72 on his Speedo and I was just get farther and farther away!! This was on black top. So if the Speedo is correct I would say top speed is at least 75 maybe closer to 80

 

lmfao....come on now its only a 400, its not like its a 450f lol 80mph lmfao i would have to say any were between 55- 65 maybe 70 and just for the feather weights 75

 

I had a 2000 400ex for 2 years and then sold it and it was coo but I didn't think it was all that fast. I would say prolly 60-65 tops.... I remember it being a really awsome quad though. Much better built than the raptor i now own, and, in my oppinion, better looking .but hey, when a stock non bs big bore like the rap came out..thats what I got...I would much rather own a 650ex if there ever is one.
