Default Does a Rancher AT float?

I went mudding yesterday and I swear that my rancher AT was floating. I have only had a machine for about six months so I am a new rider but I never thought it could float. The water/mud I was in was about 4 feet deep which is well above the height of the machine. Also, when riding through the mud I could easily rock the four wheeler back and forth which tells me that I was not making contact with the bottom. Was I floating?

Well lets put it this way, the Rancher 350 wont float with stock tires and the 400AT is quite a few pounds heavier...

Most quads will float upside down until they get water logged, seen it happen, not to mine thankfully. But to answer your question, when you get so deep the tires to tend to make it lighter and you might not get good traction. But you can't drive accross a pond or anything.

Although, on sport quads at least, I have seen somebody swim next to a quad rightside up and pull it across a pond.

my 350 rancher floats. But not with a rider on it. And the water is like halfway up the engine when it is floating. I have walked across a pond with the quad next to me and the water was up to my waist and the rancher was floating next to me. It doesn't float like on top of the water though. It floats in it.

Foremans float I found out weekend before last. I have a post on here called Foremans Float. Check it out. I was floating out into the lake seat deep when I realized what was happening. I weigh 180 and was still on it in gear trying to get back to shore. Finally I put it in 4wd and I guess the tires paddled me close enough to start touching the ground. The air box took in a couple inches of water but none in the engine oil. I was probably only floating about 1 or 2 minutes but it seemed like an eternity!! So sure, I bet RANCHERS FLOAT!!

Well I sunk my stock 01 ES 2x and neither time, with me on it or not, did it ever attempt to float high enough to keep the exhaust out of the water. I think I've got a picture to prove it, I'll look. The other incident was late at night and after we broke throught the ice, cold stuff.

negative, ive made this mistake on my rancher at once already, i was on a severe decline trying to cross a creek when before i knew it i was up to my led display in water. before backing out my atv drowned out i was was pushing it up that incline so i could stand it up and get the water out. dont know if this matters but my weight is 230, which makes it hard for a john boat to float!!!
