buying 400ex front shocks tomorrow/ which to get and where?
#1
I am ordering new front shocks tomorrow and am leaning toward triple rate works with res. for $489 from magic racing, they stock them and said they could set them up for me at 245 lbs. I DON'T want to wait for a set of shocks that are on backorder and don't want to spend over $700 any suggestions? Maybe ohlins? (the gold resoviors on the shocks plain look BAD!)

If you are not racing then don't get the rez's. You will not be able to tell the difference. I raced a set of triples w/o rez'z last year and could only get them to fade in practice. And I weigh 245 also. Make sure you weigh yourself with ALL your gear on, in my case it adds @20lbs.
Next year, if the funds are in order, you can have TCS or Legacy rebuild yor Works and add rez's for @ $400. That's what I did and the difference is amazing. Either of these shops will not use the stock Works rez's so it's the same price for Works with or witout rez'z. Plus I believe you can still get Works triples w/o rez for $295. I think the last post I saw was from Shoc Connection.
If I were rating the shocks I've ridden [on a 400ex] from a scale of 1-10 it would go like this: Stock=2, Works triples=6, Ohlins=7, PEP=8, TCS=9, Good Luck
