The Fourtrax 300 is Back!!!
#33
1) I now own a Traxter but I did own a TRX 300 FourTrax from '93 - '99 so I hope that allows me to post in the Honda forum.
2) My wife still owns her '93 300 FourTrax with over 3500 miles on it so that alone should allow me to post here.
3) Honda makes high quality machines. Maby not fancy or "high tech" (except for maby the Rubicon whch is what I really wanted but wasn't available at the time I bought my Traxter)but extremely dependable. I never even had to change a spark plug in either mine or my wifes Honda. Just normal and recommended maintenance is all it needs. Change oil and filter once a year, change the differential grease every 2 - 3 years, clean or replace the brakes every 5 years or so, clean the air filter a couple times a year, that's all I can think of.
4) They never once failed to start for us.
5) Never had to replace the battery - yet.
6) My friend had a '94 Honda 300 and tortured it unmercifily but again, it never failed him.
7) The only time I ever needed to use my on board tool kit was to ----- work on a Polaris.
8)I'm not bashing Polaris (I spelled it right didn't I?)but I do know from past experience (people that we rode with who owned them) that they do (or did) have more than their share of trouble.
9) So far I do like my Traxter but I won't say it's as dependable as a Honda until I've had it for a few years.
10) Happy Trails to All! - No matter what your riding.

Well I have something to say on the matter. I ride a 2000 Foreman 450S give it hell and its still going strong haven't done anything to it at all. I have a friend that RODE a Polaris. We spent all day one day working on it to try to get it out of reverse. It was one of those awesome automatics that got stuck. Guess what he's trading it in on?? A Honda 450S whaddya know?

I have hauled the same 400EX out of the woods three times. It had a total electrical shutdown, towed it out, took to the dealer, fixed it. Next time out, same thing, happened one more time, I told my buddy I'll start riding with him again when he gets a Polaris, that way, I can get some decent ride time in.
