I agree with q2e, these would sell like crazy on Ebay. If you could get the price under $25 I would buy one.

hondabuster,

What material would you use to make it? Billet aluminum?

quad2xtreme, I have a cnc lathe available to me and may be interested in making a few of them for you. I could make it out of what ever you wanted. Aluminum or plastic or ?? Have you ever thought of just modifying a stock drain plug? Or are you trying to develope and market a product?

I did think about drilling out a stock one and then tapping for a brass fitting with threads on one end and a hose fitting on the other.

I wasn't really looking to get into the parts marketing business although I have wished I owned a metal fabrication business on many occasions.

There was one for sell on e-bay. If it is still available, maybe I will purchase it. The guy wants $4 for it....

Just checked Service Honda. A new one is only $5.66. Guess I would go with that.

Thanks,

Jon

I was thinking of drilling a hole the size of the od. of the tubing and pushing it thru. I may not have the whole picture though.

That should work too as long as it seals tight. Once the oil tank fills up, it can't start leaking back out. I am hoping the oil in the oil tank will make its way into the engine without having to start the quad briefly sometime during the 2 qt being added.

This is what i was thinking of doing.
Get the honda dipstick, machine off bottom, to remove the stick, and drill/ream a 1/2 inch hole down the center. Make an aluminum adaptor to fit the 1/2 hole, using either a press fit or sleave locker...the other end will have the od be 3/8 or 1/2 inch to go inside a clear vinyl hose, and use a spring hose clamp to hold it on. Or however big you want the inside diameter of the hose. 1/2 will allow quicker fillups. 3/8 will probably be the ok.
At the other end of the 18 or 24" long hose, get the can adaptor from wallys world, and make a fitting, to go from the output of that spout to the inside of the hose. Clamp the hose to the adaptor, and epoxy the fitting to the spout.
Probably, less than 20 bucks, for the parts, and maybe 4 bucks or so to box it and send it thru the mail.
It would be functional, have a shut off as the spout has one built in, and would be a good prototype, if you want to shop it around.
It wont cost 80 bucks, i just need to be reimbused, for actual cost...ill do the work for free.
Let me know if youre interested.

Link to e-bay item

This is real close to what I want. It just needs drilled out so the hose could be fitted to it. You can get the portion that fits the quart oil bottle with the clear hose at most auto part stores. Amsoil has the large opening so you don't need the extra fitting adapter most of these come with.

I might buy this part and drill it out. I have a drill press. I still might tap it and use a brass fitting to adapt to the clear tube.

His price is very reasonable. I left him an e-mail to see if he would be interested in making some of these. I'll let you know if I hear back.
