250ex good first quad?
#1
I am selling my 8hp gocart. I keep getting smoked by a 300CC quad, and I'm getting a fair deal for selling it. I think its time to move on to a quad. Is a 250ex a good first quad? I'm almost 14, I'm about average size, not fat, not skinny, and I will be using it for fun, no racing, or towing or anything like that. Are they good for me?

Im the 300CC that keeps on beaten Ya, but i told you today The honda 250 is an ecellent ATV. With some gears and tires youll either hang with me or beat me. Then again its semi auto vs semi auto riders race really. I told you before that kid aint gonna buy it hes blowin smoke up your a$$ just say to your dad he dosnt have the money. Starten out yea the 250ex will be good till you either get too big or want more power. I suggested the 250 cause of your size man. I only ride the 300 cause of my age and size.

id recomend a 450R its a great first quad.... ha jk hmmm id go with a 300ex instead. that way you can use a clutch, and if you plan on getting bigger quads somday, you will know how to use a clutch then. you have to learn eventualy how to use them ( not thats it hard or anything)
im 17 now... and a few years ago my first quad was a 300ex. it was a great quad. and i recomend that you get one too.

Hes not that big man. I said the 300ex too but he needs to learn to use somethin smaller first and besides im gonna hook him up with some parts to make his faster then mine. I got maybe like a year or so till im done riding unless i can get a job and get a Z 400 and mod it to my liken

Nah man for were we both live a 250 semi auto will do him fine its hard to get up too top speed here
we both live on a dirt road that isnt even a mile long. its got pot holes and everything. we have trails but there only for a quad that is
a 250 mine i cant even ride them. so i just cruise up and down for alittle bit thats all besides we both are gonna just ride around like we did when he had the gokart.. that ive killed many times. I think he should just modd the gokart but hes gettin a sweet offer on it id take it
i took 250 cash for mine.

I agree that the 250ex is a great starter quad. If you ever need to switch to a quad with a clutch it will be real easy to learn anyway. Plus the 250ex has a driveshaft which is easier to maintain than a chain(diff fluid changes once in a while vs. frequent chain lubing). Also, a 250ex vs a 300ex stock to stock is a pretty close race because the shifts are so fast on the 250. If you are doing trail riding the semi auto is nice too have. If you want to race in a 300cc class the 300ex is better because the aftermarket stuff is easier to get and you can switch gearing if u need to. Otherwise I would stick with a 250.
